I had the pleasure of taking a few images for a Mystic Realm's Glory of Guildhall event. They are a story based larp in the Southern Jersey area and they welcome anyone wanting to get out and have a good time. Okay... What's a larp? A larp is a short way to say "Live Action Role Play". It is people acting out something other then their normal self. You can find many different types of larps pretty much everywhere in the world. What sets this group apart from other larps in the area? This is a unique larp because it can be considered story based. Don't know what that means? We have all seen combat larps mocked on TV. A combat based larp is mostly people checking bags of beads at each other yelling out spell names and getting cracked upside the head with semi soft sticks. In a combat based game your char is nothing more then stat numbers and a good excuse to beat on someone, boring in the end. However, A story based larp, like Mystic realms, would be more about living out a book. Have you ever wondered what it might be like to simply have tea at an inn full or demons? Maybe you wish to go visit to village of mice like people and learn their cultures. In a story based larp such a thing might be found. You and a group of others trekking from one location to the next in search braving the wilds all in search of a goal. Hi! This is Jesse with a PSA.
